Materials

OVEN

  • 1/4 c raw sesame seeds per 1/4 pan sheet pan

STOVETOP

  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds raw per 12 inches of saute pan

MICROWAVE

  • 2 tablespoons raw sesame seeds for each 9-inch dish or glass vessel

Instructions

OVEN

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Set the sesame seeds on a baking tray and bake at the oven temperature for approximately 8-10 minutes for each batch. Mix the seeds around in the pan each 2 minutes until they're slightly brown.
  • Transfer the seeds onto an uncooked plate and let them cool. The seeds will continue to cook in the heat that remains.

STOVETOP

  • In a large pot with a medium-low flame, place the sesame seeds evenly across the pan. If the seeds do not are evenly distributed, you can do this in small batches.
  • The seeds should be cooked until they smell sweet and have a lighter brown. Make use of a spatula to stir the seeds in order to keep they from cooking. It should take about 4 to 6 minutes per batch.
  • Transfer the seeds onto an additional plate and let them cool.

MICROWAVE

  • Note: For information I'm using a microwave of 900 watts.
  • In a microwave-safe glass bowl or plate Add the sesame seeds in a way they're evenly distributed. If none of the seeds are evenly distributed, you can do this in small batches.
  • Microwave on high for one minute intervals. Then use an ice cube to stir the seeds. Continue to microwave at 1-minute intervals till the seeds turn lighter brown and smell like sweet and nutty. It should take about 6 minutes for each batch.
  • Transfer the plate to a different one and let it cool.
